June Lam

University of Toronto
Psychiatry Resident
June Lam completed his B.Sc. at UBC and his medical training at McGill University. He is currently a second-year resident physician in psychiatry at the University of Toronto. He has a clinical and research interest in transcultural psychiatry and global mental health, and in negotiating the tension between the two. He co-founded and co-organizes an interdisciplinary interest group called "Mental Health on the Margins", examining issues affecting marginalized populations that are often marginalized in dominant discourses in psychiatry. His research interests include studying the cultural and gender factors in suicidal behaviour in Chinese and Chinese-Canadian women, as well as exploring the meaning of “complexity” in mental health service users from the perspectives of community based stakeholders using participatory action research. He is also passionate about community outreach events such as IDC 2016, and he is excited for the opportunity to be part of this conference!
